To plan, promote, co-ordinate, execute and monitor various developmental/ welfare programmes

To achieve optimum utilization of all the resources for aquaculture in inland sector and attain sustainable fish production from the marine sector

To improve the socio-economic status of fishers

To create required infrastructural facilities for harvesting, landing and marketing

To produce and supply quality fish seed for aquaculture

To provide technical assistance to farmers

To train fishers and staff in technology up gradation
