Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority Act 2014:
Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority 2014 constituted vide G.O.No.SAMVYASHAE 07 SHASANA 2012, Bangalore, dated 07.03.2015, whose
jurisdiction applies to all the lakes in the Karnataka State located within the limits of all Municipal Corporations and Bangalore Development Authority or any other water bodeis or lakes notified by the Government from time to time.
- KLCDA Act is to provide for establishment of a Lake Conservation and Development Authority and other matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
- KLCDA is the regulatory, planning
and policy making body with nodal functions for protection, conservation,
reclamation, restoration, regeneration and integrated development of lakes
in the jurisdiction of the Authority.
- It is the nodal agency for
National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-systems (NPCA) (merging
existing National Lake Conservation Plan and National Wetlands
Conservation Programme) and took up 16 lakes in Karnataka under NLCP, with
5 of them in Bangalore City and 6 projects in Karnataka under National
Wetlands Conservation Programme.
